Wisconsin State Laws Warning 947.015 Bomb Scares. Whoever intentionally conveys or causes to be conveyed any threat or false information, knowing such to be false, concerning an attempt or alleged attempt being made or to be made or to be made to destroy any property by the means of explosives is guilty of Class E felony punishable by a fine not to exceed $10,000.00 or imprisonment not to exceed 2 years , or both. 945.35 Emergency Telephone Calls. (1) As used in this section: (a) "Party line" means a subscriber's line telephone circuit, consisting of 2 or more main telephone stations connected therewith, each station with a distinctive ring or telephone number. (b) "Emergency" means a situation in which property or human life are in jeopardy and the prompt summoning of aid is essential. (2) Whoever intentionally refuses to yield or surrender the use of a party line to another person immediately upon being informed by such other person that he or she wants to report a fire or summon police, medical or other aid in case of emergency, is subject to a forfeiture not to exceed $1,000.00. (3) Whoever intentionally asks for or requests the use of a party line on the pretext that an emergency exists, knowing that no emergency in fact exists, is subject to a forfeiture not to exceed $1,000.00. (4) Every telephone directory printed and distributed to the members of the general public after September 1, 1965, shall contain a notice to be prominently printed and display in bold-faced type, stating in substance the conduct prohibited by this statue, and to be preceded by the word "Warning." This subsection shall not apply to those directories distributed solely for business advertising purposes, commonly known as classified directories. 943.22 Use of Cheating Tokens. Whoever obtains the property or services of another by depositing anything which he or she knows is not lawful money or an authorized token in any receptacle used for the deposit of coins or tokens is subject to a forfeiture not to exceed $500.00. |
| 943.45 Obtaining Telecommunications Service By Fraud. (1) Whoever with intent to defraud obtains or attempts to obtain telecommunications service by any of the following means may be penalized as provided in sub: (a) Charging such service to an existing telephone number or calling card number without the consent of the subscriber thereto or the legitimate holder thereof. (b) Charging such service to a false, fictitious, suspended, terminated, expired, canceled or revoked telephone number or calling card number. (c) Rearranging, tampering with or making connection with any facilities or equipment. (d) Using a code, prearranged scheme, or other stratagem or device whereby said person in effect sends or receives information. (e) Using any other contrivance, device or means to avoid payment of the lawful charges, in whole or in part, for such service. (2) This section shall apply when the said telecommunications service either originates or terminates, or both, in this state, or when the charges for said telecommunication service would have been billable in normal course, by a person providing telecommunications service in this state but for the fact that said service was obtained or attempted to be obtained by one or more of the means set forth in sub. (1). (3) Whoever violates this section is guilty of: (a) A Class A misdemeanor, if the charges for the service obtained, or attempted to obtained, do not exceed $500.00. For a Class A misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $10,000.00 or imprisonment not to exceed 9 months, or both. (b) A Class E felony, if the charges for the service obtained, or attempted to be obtained, exceed $500.00. For a Class E felony punishable by a fine not to exceed $10,000.00 or imprisonment not to exceed 2 years, or both. (4) When there has been more than one unlawful obtaining, or attempt to obtain, by an offender, the aggregate of the charges for the telecommunications service unlawfully obtained, or attempted to be obtained, shall determine the grade of offense. 947.01 (2) Unlawful Use of the Telephone. Whoever does any of the following is guilty of a Class B misdemeanor: (1) With intent to frighten, intimidate, threaten, abuse, harass, makes a telephone call and threatens to inflict injury or physical harm to any person or property of any person. (2) With intent to frighten, intimidate, threaten, abuse, harass or offend, telephones another and uses any obscene, lewd or profane language or suggests any lewd or lascivious act. (3) Makes or causes the telephone of another party repeatedly to ring, with intent to harass any person at the called number. (4) Makes repeated telephone calls, whether or not conversation ensues, with intent solely to harass any person at the called number. (5) Makes a telephone call, whether or not conversation ensues, without disclosing his or her identity and with intent to abuse, threaten, or harass any person at the called number. (6) Knowingly permits any telephone under his or her control to be used for any purpose prohibited by this section. …Penalties for a Class B misdemeanor consist of a fine not to exceed $1,000.00 or imprisonment not to exceed 90 days or both. |
